How to correctly seal water leaks

In order to block water leaks in areas subject to the pressure from this water, like tanks, pipes, tunnels, etc., it is necessary to use quick setting materials that interrupt the water flow instantly.
The solution in these cases is to use PROPAM® TAPAVÍAS, an easy-to-apply, extra quick setting mortar which, due to its technical characteristics, is appropriate for this type of repairs.

The holes or cracks must be cleaned with high pressure water in order to remove all loose particles and dust.

Moisten the substrate before applying PROPAM® TAPAVÍAS.

Trim the sides of the hole or crack at a right angle, avoid leaving “V” shaped sections, to ensure better adhesion.

Add in a rubber container the quantity of water necessary to knead PROPAM® TAPAVÍAS (about 140 cm3 per 500 g)

Knead energetically and quickly with the gloved hand to obtain a homogeneous consistency free of lumps.

Keep the paste on the glove until it has a firm but plastic consistency (beginning of setting).

Apply directly to the water outlet and maintain pressure for about 60 seconds.

Remove any leftover material so that the repair is levelled evenly with the surface surrounding the substrate.

Keep the repair moist for about 15 minutes.

  • Do not apply in rainy conditions, nor with temperatures below + 5 ° C or above + 30 ° C.
  • It is necessary to use individual protection elements (gloves, protective glasses, etc.) for the application of the material.
  • Use PROPAM® CEM RAPID for the detention of light water leaks in buried structures.

Build a barbacue

Making barbecues, chimneys, ovens, etc., requires using specific materials that withstand the extreme conditions to which they are going to be exposed (high temperatures, expansions and contractions, etc.). The solution lies in using PROPAM® REFRACTARIO, a refractory mortar which, due to its technical characteristics, is suitable for coating walls and making joints that are subject to environments in contact with fire or high temperatures. The abrupt changes in temperature that occur when lighting barbecues, fireplaces, ovens, etc., produce dilations. When turning off facilities, contraction movements in the materials used are produced. These changes can produce cracks and even lead to loosening, if the materials used for its...

Build a wall with glass blocks

A glass block is a very useful material both in construction, decoration and interior decoration, as it can be used to separate different ambiances, showers, outside walls, or simply as decoration. It is formed by two pieces of molded glass, which are welded at a very high temperature, to create a vacuum air chamber between the two pieces. This air chamber confers the capacity of thermal-acoustic insulation. Once placed provides highly decorative finishes, given the wide range of formats and colors. Making quick fixings in masonry

Masonry tasks like arrissing, small anchorings, door and window framing, attaching pawls, sanitary units, hinges, etc., require the use of quick hardening mortars that can provide very high mechanical resistances in a few minutes.  The solution lies in using PROPAM® CEM RAPID, that is, a mortar formulated on the basis of high resistance cements and special quick setting and hardening admixtures. Fixing glass wool in an enclosure chamber

The need to obtain efficient thermal insulation and even more so since the TBC came into force a few years ago, has lead the construction industry to develop materials like glass wool, for use as thermal insulant and acoustic absorbent in enclosure walls inresidential, commercial, industrial and service buildings. For its correct placement it is necessary to use a mortar that allows the waterproofing of the enclosure against water that can penetrate from the outside, without forming a vapor barrier.
